Last night was the General Relief Society Mtg. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have been able to have attended and for the things that had been shared and for what I was able to take away from what whas shared. I have a wonderful friend (Jeanette Jones) who happens to be a neighbor as well. We went together and as we were waiting for the broadcast to start we were talking about my kids and a few things that have happened. Well Jeanette had told me about a few different times she had come over. One time she was over it was either Ben or Kristen that said "There goes Denzel". Another time she had come over Ben was in the living room playing 'slappy hands' by him self. Then last night when Jeanette came over so we could ride together to the mtg, Angela didn't come to her like she normally does. She just sat there fixated on a spot in the kitchen. Jeanette said that that was most likely Denzel.
In her talk Sister Bonnie Oscarson said "We must build a home of safety, love, and refuge." Then as Prest Eyring was talking I had the small glimpse of what Jeanette was talking about with Ben. Ben was there playing "Slappy Hands" by himself but Denzel was there doing his famous one hand on his face the other arm through the arm that was on his face and playing slappy hands with Ben.
How grateful I am that my parents taught (and showed) me what a home of safety, love and refuge is. Because of that I am able to have that with my kids. We still have our struggles and everything but the fact that my kids are able to have these experiences because of the atmosphere we are ever so working on, is such a wonderful blessing.
In Pres. Eyrings talk he told about the mother carrying her young daughter while going to the funeral and the comment she made about her daughters name. "Joy always comes after sorrow". Yes I still miss Denzel and the fact that I can't call him to talk. Or knowing that I get to physically see him when we come to visit. But the joy that comes know that it is still very much apart of our family even in the smallest things that he does. I am so grateful for his love. I'm grateful for my Savior for the firm foundation that he is. So grateful that he allows for those little moments that my kids get to have getting to know Denzel.
