K So i am not used to being a "Parade Spectator". At least not yet. I spent six years in parades with Marching Band. From the time I graduated HS till 2004 I don't remember going to any parades. Then when I was always in Parades with the Fire Dept. whether it was Santa Clara, UT Fire Dept. or Hutchins TX Fire Dept. Up until this year I had never been a Spectator. I'm not used to having to sit for 1-2 hrs to watch the parade. In my mind the parade should only last an hour. At the end of an Hour, I start thinking to myself "When is this going to end?" Today was my third parade as a spectator.
Something else that kind of boggles my mind is how a lot of people wont stand up when the flag passes them. As the parade started today, I told Ben and Kristen that the flag was coming and that they needed to stand up. It was only because I said something to Ben and Kristen that a few other people stood up but most didn't. I'm grateful for having the appreciation for the flag and for the freedom that it represents. It is definately an appreciation that my kids will learn and grow up with. Thank you to the Men and Women who have served our country, and for the freedom that they fought for.
